About Bundoran Main Beach
Bundoran Main Beach is the long, sandy main strand sitting in front of Bundoran town. While the nearby Peak gets all the magazine coverage, Main Beach is where most people in town actually surf - especially beginners and intermediates.
The wave is a forgiving beach break that runs along the bay, with multiple peaks shifting with the tide and swell. It works on the same NW swells as the Peak but is far less intimidating and far less heavy. Surf schools, board hire and accommodation are all within walking distance of the beach.
Hazards & Notes
- Busy with swimmers and surf schools in summer
- Watch the rocks at the north end on lower tides
- Rip current can form between sand bars on bigger swells
- Cold North Atlantic water - proper wetsuit outside summer
