About Enniscrone
Enniscrone sits at the south end of Killala Bay, on the Sligo–Mayo border. The beach is a long, sandy west-northwest-facing strand with multiple peaks shifting with the tide, swell and the sand bars that re-form each season. It's a less crowded alternative to Strandhill and rewards patience picking the right peak on the day.
The break catches a slightly different swell window than the rest of north Sligo - more west in the angle - and can be working when Easkey and Strandhill are too straight-on or too small. Mid tide on the push is typically best. Surf schools, board hire and a handful of cafes back the beach in town.
Hazards & Notes
- Rips between sand bars on bigger swells
- Watch for bathers and bodyboarders in summer
- Bigger NW swells can throw heavy closeouts
- Cold water year-round
