About Lahinch Lefts
Lahinch Lefts - also known as The Cliffs - is the reef left-hander that breaks at the south end of Lahinch beach. When a clean W swell stacks up at a long period, this is where the local crew and visiting surfers head: a longer, steeper wall than the main beach, breaking over a rock shelf.
The reef wants size - 1m+ of swell, 11s+ period - to break properly. It's not a learning wave. Mid tide is the sweet spot; low exposes rocks. Watch the exit lines and respect the local pecking order, which is well-established here.
Hazards & Notes
- Rock shelf on the inside - know your exit before paddling out
- Strong rip current along the reef
- Crowds when on - local pecking order respected
- Avoid at low tide - rocks exposed
