About Streedagh Strand
Streedagh is a long, west-facing beach near Grange in north Sligo, framed by Benbulben to the south and the bones of three Spanish Armada wrecks under the sand (the Armada ran aground here in 1588). The beach is a quiet, scenic alternative to the busier Strandhill down the coast.
Like other north Sligo beaches, Streedagh catches W to NW swells and works on E to SE offshore winds. Multiple peaks shift along the strand. There's no formal surf school but the local crew know the banks. Free parking at the beach entrance.
Hazards & Notes
- Rips between sand bars on bigger swells
- Watch the rocks at the south end
- Exposed beach - wind builds quickly
- Cold water year-round
