About Whiting Bay
Whiting Bay is a small south-facing cove on the Waterford coast, a short drive from Ardmore. It's one of the easternmost surf spots in the county, picking up the same S to SE swells as the Copper Coast spots but with a slightly different window.
The bay is forgiving and family-friendly. Mid tide is best. It's quieter than the busier Tramore lineup an hour up the coast, and a reliable pick when the right wind window opens. Limited facilities on the beach itself; Ardmore village is just down the road for food and accommodation.
Hazards & Notes
- Rocks at the cove ends
- South-facing - often flat when the Atlantic west is firing
- Cold water outside high summer
- Limited services at the beach
