About Carnivan
Carnivan is a small, sheltered south-east-facing beach on the Wexford coast - quieter than the better-known Curracloe and Rosslare, and best on a clean, modest SE swell with a light NW offshore.
Because it's sheltered, Carnivan doesn't pick up the bigger swells that the more exposed Wexford beaches do. That makes it a useful option on windier days when other spots are blown out, and on smaller days for beginners looking for a forgiving wave away from a crowd.
Hazards & Notes
- Small swell window - often flat
- Limited facilities · bring everything
- Cold water outside summer
- Watch the rocks at the ends of the cove
