About Rosslare
Rosslare Strand is a long south-east-facing beach a short drive from Rosslare Harbour, on the south-east tip of Wexford. It catches the same Irish Sea swells as Curracloe to the north but faces more directly toward the Welsh coast - which means it picks up a slightly different swell window and can be working when other Wexford beaches are flat.
The beach works on SE to S swells with NW offshore winds. Mid tide is best. Beginner-friendly forgiving peaks shift along the strand. Easy access from the N25 makes it a regular pick for Dublin and Cork surfers heading down for a clean east-coast session.
Hazards & Notes
- Less consistent than Atlantic west coast
- Rip current between sand bars on bigger swells
- Busy with swimmers and families in summer
- Cold water · proper wetsuit needed outside high summer
