About Brandon Bay
Brandon Bay is a long, sweeping bay on the north side of the Dingle peninsula, framed by Mount Brandon to the west. The bay holds several distinct surf spots; the most well-known is Mossies, a peak that consistently produces clean rights and lefts on a clean NW swell.
The bay catches plenty of swell off the Atlantic but is sheltered from the worst of the prevailing SW winds by the mountains behind it. Mid tide is the sweet spot. There's a surf school in the bay; otherwise it's a self-sufficient location.
Hazards & Notes
- Rips between sand bars on bigger swells
- The bay can throw closeouts when oversized
- Remote location · bring food, water and a friend
- Cold water year-round
