About Brandon Bay
Brandon Bay is a long, sweeping bay on the north side of the Dingle peninsula, framed by Mount Brandon to the west. This page covers the open, north-facing strand at the western end of the bay - the Fermoyle / Kilcummin stretch west of Stradbally - which takes N-NW swell straight in. The bay's named breaks on the Maharees side each have their own page: Mossies, Dumps, Stoney Gap, Candeehy and Sandy Beach.
The bay catches plenty of swell off the Atlantic but is sheltered from the worst of the prevailing SW winds by the mountains behind it. Mid tide is the sweet spot. There's a surf school in the bay; otherwise it's a self-sufficient location.
